Not Sure If It's a Big Deal? Let's Talk!
You have a question about your kid. Maybe it's after hours and you're not sure if this can wait until tomorrow. Maybe your regular pediatrician said it was fine but you just need to hear it one more time. Maybe you've been Googling for 45 minutes and you need someone to just tell you.
That's what I'm here for! I'm Dr. Kate Harrington—board-certified pediatrician, 20 years in practice, and genuinely happy to hear from you. No nurse line. No callback wait. No "you should probably just come in." Just real answers, from a real doctor who has time to get to know your kid's situation.
Currently available to Minnesota families only. Medical licensing rules—nothing personal!
Every consult includes follow-up texting — because your questions don't stop when the call ends.
After your appointment, I stay in your corner. Text me a photo of that rash on day three. Let me know if the fever came back. Ask the follow-up question you forgot to ask during the visit. My texting membership normally runs $100/month—it's included with every consult, free.
Here’s How I Can Help
Quick Consult—15 Minutes | $50
+ 1 week of follow-up texting included (a $25 value)
Perfect for the questions that feel urgent but probably don't need an office visit. Cold symptoms, mild rashes, pinkeye, stomach bugs, allergy flares, school-or-no-school gut checks, travel prep. I'll give you a clear answer and a plan—and then I'm still available by text for the next week if anything changes.
Same-day and next-day appointments are usually available.
Standard Consult—30 Minutes | $100
+ 2 weeks of follow-up texting included (a $50 value)
Enough time to actually talk through what's going on. Great for ongoing concerns—sleep issues, constipation, bedwetting, behavioral questions, or anything that needs more than a quick answer. I can also offer second opinions on diagnoses or treatment plans your regular doctor has given you.
Appointments typically available within two weeks.
Comprehensive—60 Minutes | $200
+ 1 month of follow-up texting included (a $100 value—membership included free)
For the bigger stuff that deserves real time and real follow-through. Developmental concerns, school struggles, complex chronic issues, second opinions on significant diagnoses. We'll go deep, make a plan, and you'll have a full month of texting access so we can adjust as things unfold.
Appointments typically available within two weeks.
Not Sure Where to Start with Mental Health or Learning Concerns?
Hearing that your child might have anxiety, ADHD, depression, or a learning challenge like dyslexia can feel overwhelming—especially when you're not sure who to call first or what the process even looks like.
I can help with that.
While I don't provide formal diagnoses or prescribe medication for mental health or learning conditions, I can sit down with you, listen to what you're seeing, help you make sense of it, and point you toward the right next steps and resources. Sometimes you just need someone knowledgeable in your corner before you navigate the system—and that's exactly what a 30- or 60-minute consult is for.
"We left our first virtual visit with a deep sense of relief—a feeling of, 'we've got this.'" -Anonymous parent, after an ADHD and learning disability consultation

A: When you call your doctor's office with a question, you typically leave a message, wait for a nurse callback, and may never actually speak to the doctor. With a virtual consult, you're talking directly to me—a board-certified pediatrician—for dedicated, uninterrupted time focused entirely on your child. No middleman, no playing phone tag, no being told to just come in.
-
A: A good rule of thumb: if you have one specific concern that's been going on for less than a week, the 15-minute consult is usually the right fit. If you have multiple questions, an ongoing issue, or you want time to really talk through something, go with 30 or 60 minutes. Not sure? Book the 30—it's better to have extra time than to feel rushed. And remember, follow-up texting is included with every tier, so you won't be left hanging after the call.
-
A: We'll meet by video, I'll ask questions about your child's history and current concerns, and we'll make a plan together. Depending on the situation, that might mean reassurance, a treatment recommendation, a prescription, a referral, or a combination. You'll leave with clear next steps—and my follow-up texting support for whatever comes after.
-
A: Yes, when it's clinically appropriate. For conditions like pinkeye, swimmer's ear, eczema, ringworm, and impetigo, I can prescribe after a thorough assessment. That said, I practice virtual medicine responsibly—if I think something needs to be seen in person, I'll tell you honestly and help you figure out next steps.
-
A: Yes—any time I prescribe medication I'll send a visit summary to your regular doctor. I think it's important that your child's primary care team has the full picture.
-
A: Yes—I hold a medical license in Minnesota, and telemedicine regulations don't allow me to practice across state lines. So for now, it's Minnesotans only!
-
A: At this time, Your Pediatrician Friend is a purely virtual-based healthcare service.
-
A: No—I'm a direct-pay practice. I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company or HSA for potential reimbursement, but I don't bill insurance directly and can't guarantee reimbursement.
-
A: 15-minute consults can be cancelled up to 2 hours before the appointment. 30- and 60-minute consults can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance. Cancellations outside those windows are charged in full. To cancel, email hello@yourpediatricianfriend.com.

About Dr. Kate Harrington
Hi! I'm Dr. Kate Harrington—board-certified pediatrician with 20 years of experience and the person behind Your Pediatrician Friend.
I created this practice because I believe every parent deserves direct access to a real doctor—not a nurse line, not a Google spiral, not an AI bot, and not a two-week wait just to ask a question. When something is going on with your kid, you deserve a straight answer from someone who actually knows what they're talking about and genuinely cares about your family.
I spent two decades in a traditional practice answering these exact questions in the exam room—the "is this normal," the "should I be worried," the "my doctor said it was fine but I just needed to hear it again." I left that model because I wanted to do this part better. Virtual consults let me give you real time, real answers, and real follow-up—without the waiting room!
I'd love to be in your corner 💕
